5:52p | Happy news!!!! So far at least My beloved husband had his surgery today to fix the anuerysm in his aorta. Big, scary surgery and after the problems with the smaller, easier surgery we (I) were pretty concerned (scared poopless) but he came through fine. He's in ICU but that was only cautionary. As long as he continues to do well tonight they'll wake him up tomorrow and remove the breathing tube. They decided to err on the side of caution and leave it in overnight. They did wake him briefly while I was there (I think they knew I wasn't going to leave until he woke up) and he was responsive, moved feet, etc. so I feel much better. It's rather scary to see your beloved in the hospital, unconsious and not breathing on their own. No eye movement is the scariest part. I'll be back at the hospital for the day tomorrow and every day until he comes home. And my house is waaaaay too quiet without him here. It's downright spooky and upsetting. |

12:32p | No Resolutions For Me ... I don't do resolutions because I never follow through and can do without the guilt of breaking them. So I thought I'd do something different instead. I have stories I've been working on, some of them for months, that I get blocked on and I shift to another story. So I thought I'd spam y'all with snippets of fics today. But before I do that, I'm posting a plot bunny. Because it's a good one , IMO, and I really want to read it and if I can ever wrap my head around writing Spencer Reid, I might try to write it. See, in my head, Spencer Reid lives in the same apartment building and floor as Tony DiNozzo. And they become friends. Just friends, or maybe as close as brothers. The NCIS people don't know Reid but the BAU people all know Tony. Well, except for the new guy, Rossi. The story really picks up about a month or so after the episode Chimera. Tony's been having problems with his senses. While he's always had great eyesight and sense of smell, it's even better now, so much so it's bothersome. Even worse his hearing has gotten better, and he's heard some snide comments from people in the building accidentally that's hurt his feelings. It's starting to drive him a bit crazy in fact, they keep cutting in and out and he's been getting more and more head slaps as a result. So of course he'd go to his best friend and genius, Reid. And of course Reid would have known about Blair Sandburg's dissertation and the circumstances behind it. So Reid puts together the clues and comes out that Tony is a Sentinel. Reid tries to help, but he's not Tony's Guide. And on Reid's advice he sniffs out everyone at NCIS and none of them -- not even Gibbs -- smells right. Tony continues to have problems, so much so he takes off from work and goes to talk to Reid about making a trip to Cascade to talk to the other Sentinel. He walks in the office and meets Rossi for the first time and there's an almost instant connection. Yeppers, Rossi is his Guide. I think this could really be fun. Especially since Rossi could use Italian to Guide Tony. I really want to read this one so hopefully someone will write it so I don't have to. Okay, gimmie a bit to start cooking and I'll post a few snippets of my WIP's here in a bit. Current Mood:  creative |

7:52p | I finished! I finished! I finished! All three of the original novels I started this year are now in full draft form -- better than, because they've all been heavily edited at least once. I managed to do it before New Year's! I win! *does her little dance* Anyway, I'm now working on other things and profoundly not thinking about the books save for periodic moments of glow laced with wildly neurotic worry about continuity (the things are gigantic and interrelated), but at some point I will shop them around to publishers who will, almost certainly, not want a damned thing to do with them. (Let's just say that they're about as porny as my fan-novels and leave it at that.) Still, if *you* can think of anyone who wants big, sticky, kinky, poly, racially-mixed, mostly-but-not-entirely-gay, romance-y, supernatural-y, politics-y, geeky, messy -- You get the idea. Let me know, eh?1 *wanders off to write entirely gratuitous porn* 1. Cleis, Alyson, and Dreamspinner all look like they could be good choices for me. Anyone with experience there? 10:30p | Blasphemy Cake Thanks to the inestimable Copperbadge, Bear decided to make me a new dish tonight to cheer me out of my cold. Given that I spent the day increasing the profit margins of Puffs+, I was worried that I would be unable to enjoy them properly, but Bear spiced the cakes cajun-style and they were hot enough to clear my sinuses quite nicely. He's still working on the mix, but tonight's version consisted of crabmeat, scallops, cream, italian breadcrumbs, eggs, oil, cream, bacon, and spices. Yum!! |
